The Medical Intensive care unit provides comprehensive round the clock service with the “door to needle” upon arrival less than 3 minutes at any given point of time. Speedy and accurate diagnosis is ensured by the 24x7 lab and imaging services

The department has handled all kinds of medical emergencies with survival rates comparable to any tertiary care centre in the west.

It also provides comprehensive care for diabetes , hypertension , rheumatologic and hematologic ( blood disorders ) ailments

The department is a leader in the regular academic programme of the institute and is accredited for post graduate training. It is also involved in several national and international clinical trials for improvement of existing cures .

Since its inception in 1995 , we have had :

- More than 60,000 out-patient consultation
- More than 15,000 ICU admissions
- Experience of more than 3000 ventilator days with outcomes comparable to any ICU

We are among the first to deliver comprehensive care for symptomatic HIV / AIDS patients ( at no extra cost ) without any discrimination and maintaining full confidentially. To date, we have treated more than 300 patients and about 250 are on regular out-patient follow-up and doing well. It is also involved in international clinical trail for improvement of existing cures.

We have a vast experience in dealing with complex PUO patients; Sepsis, complicated falciparum malaria, critically ill diabetes etc.

The division also has been accredited by the National Board of medical education for a DNB programme in general medicine with two seats per academic year. Our daily morning academic session is popular among our resident doctors.

We are also currently involved in international clinical trials in association with reputed world bodies .

We have also participated in various CME programmes with the idea of disseminating knowledge and sharing some of the changing practice guidelines. Our city centre is recognized for the DNB ( Medicine ) programme for two seats every year, and we conduct daily academic programmes for the resident doctors .
